Today, Gillian turned eight years old. Today, she made a covenant with the Lord by entering the waters of Baptism. It has been a very spiritual day for me to see my own daughter get baptized and start on the path that will lead her toward the Savior.It is truly a blessing to have the gospel in my life. The day I entered the waters of Baptism as a convert to the church was the day that change my life forever. And one of those blessings, it has been to teach my children Jesus' teachings while young, and prepare them to understand the importance of making the right choices. Today, Gillian made one of those right choices, one that will change her life forever. It is in itself a miracle to have the power of God so accessible to us, and I'm grateful my husband lives his life righteously so he can be worthy to exercise that power in performing ordinances like that of the Baptism as well as that of the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The gift of the Holy Ghost is one of the greatest demonstrations of the love that Heavenly Father has for us. Through it, I've been able to understand the divine language of my Father in Heaven and receive personal revelation for my own life. I'm so excited that Gillian is going to learn how to use this gift. Her life will be blessed as she tries to follow the Savior's teachings and example by following the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
Gillian's Baptism was scheduled at four this afternoon, and we were pleased and grateful that many of our friends had come to support Gillian in this special day. Her Aunt Rebekah spoke about the importance of following the Savior's example by starting with this very important ordinance, baptism. Abel spoke about the Holy Ghost and the blessings that come by following His promptings. Primary children sang "I'm a child of God," Gillian's friend, Emily, played a hymn in her violin, and Gillian's primary class sang Gillian's favorite song "I know that my Savior loves me." The Spirit touched my heart throughout the program. The talks, the prayers, the ordinances, the children's voices, all of them combined brought a special Spirit into my heart. I'm happy for Gillian's decision to get baptized, and pray that she will continue on the right path. She is a blessing to me, my sweet daughter, Gillian.
