I absolutely love it, not only because it shows a very pretty view of the beach, but because Jeremy and Kalie were actually thinking of us while at the beach. I was truly touched by their thoughtfulness. Thank you, guys. Next time, let's hope we'll all be there in person.Yesterday was my cleaning day, but because I make my own rules, I also can break them. So, instead of cleaning day, I temporarily changed it to reading day. I just had to finish the book I started the night before. That change, however, left me with not only the chores for today, but also for yesterday. To add to the mix, I also hosted book club tonight, so I had to go out and get some extra groceries. While I was being all frenzy (sometimes I think I have multiple personalities, like cleaning Melita- frenzied out, reading Melita-calm, talking Melita-enthusiastic, listening Melita-interested, hurt Melita-angry, concert attending Melita-content, etc,)my boys asked me to play some games with them. I was planning to make my famous cheesecake, which I haven't made in a while, but if I played with my kids I wouldn't be able to have enough time to do everything. I chose to play with them. I'm so glad I did. I had such fun seeing Jefferson getting red and annoyed because I was winning, and I was touched when James would offer his knightly services in defending me. There were times when Jefferson would actually take my game pieces away from me and keep them for himself just so he could win. I was laughing so hard I couldn't fight back. James would give me his own. What fun and what kids!
So, I was preparing for book club tonight when Elijah got home from work. He looked at the food I was preparing and gave me a smile. I usually use the same kind of food for my parties, and then add some new items. Fruit is always an item I use all the time, because it's tasty, colorful, and everybody eats it. Pineapple is one of the fruit pieces I use quite often. In the past, Elijah would tease me that the reason I leave pineapple uncut till the last minute was that Katherine, my friend, would do it for me. So, tonight when he saw the pineapple sitting in the fridge, he gave me a smile and said, "Too bad Katherine isn't here!" Well, what makes this really funny is the fact that I actually wasn't able to cut the pineapple, because I ran out of time. Katherine, where are you when I need you?
Anyways, we had a good time talking about books and sharing our lists of good reads. My friends and I just started it, and tonight was the planning meeting. It was really fun to hear what others are reading, especially since right now I'm mostly proof reading young adult fiction for Gillian. I got a lot of material for the next few months. Few political news before I end this post. I learned that David Cameron at age 43 became the youngest Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in nearly 200 years. He is the youngest Prime Minister, and became one, because of a coalition between his party, the Conservatives, and the Liberal Democrats. With this, he ended the 13 year old rule of the Labour Party in United Kingdom. Brown and Blair were the prime ministers prior to this election. Did you know that the British people don't have a direct say in the Prime Minister's election, although this is the most important leader in the country? The Prime Minister is chosen by his party, the members in the parliament. It's interesting that in European countries the people are putting their votes toward conservatism and capitalism, regardless of the recession. They seem to have more faith in them. The tide has turned. Anyways, that's it for politics today.
