Cars and Girls

Another beautiful day here in sunny California. Elijah wanted to go and see this car show down in Pleasanton today, so we followed him. We met up with Gary and Alice and their two kids, and enjoyed the beauty and the uniqueness of hundreds of sports cars, muscle cars, trucks, and many other kinds of cars whose name I don't either know how to spell or I don't know at all. I was disappointed that I didn't see any mini vans, but than again this was a car show about cool cars, not functional ones. Now Elijah knows a lot about cars, and his father actually owned a lot of cars with the same model and year of many cars we saw at this car show. However,I don't know much about cars, so when I go to car shows I make do with what I've got: a love for color and design. Naturally,my favorite thing about car shows is looking at the paint job done in each car. I don't care much about flames or other crazy designs, rather I like to see how they have matched their outside colors with the inside. We did see some cars whose paint job I would call artistic, and some others which were categorized in my mind as "needing- some- lessons- on color- combination." The highlight was when each of us would find our personality car, meaning a car that would match our style and personality. Fortunately for me, there were a lot of cars that were just right for me; it was hard to choose, but here are two pictures of two cars that were created just for me, a Thunderbird 1955 and a Corvette 1958 (Elijah mentioned the years of the cars; that's how I know) :

With the exception of the older children complaining about being either hungry or thirsty or hot, the car show was very enjoyable. Charlton did fine, James was mesmerized by the many awesome cars, Elijah had his car fix, and I found what I really liked in a car - great reasons to call the outing a success.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT
Tonight, my friends and I went out to celebrate Sarajane's birthday. We all packed in my car and drove to downtown Walnut Creek. First, we had some delicious dinner, and then headed for the movie theater to watch "Alice in Wonderland." Monica bought everyone a bunch of popcorn and we each shared the treats we had brought for celebration. We were laughing and giggling like little girls. We sure needed a night out! What a night, and the night hadn't even started yet. Imagine that! Here is a picture of us girls partying at the movie theater (well, not quite partying, but at least having a lot of fun):
The movie was absolutely amazing. Tim Burton is sure a genius, weird, but then again what genius isn't. I thought it was one of the best movies I have watched in a long time. The plot was
utterly interesting. Mr. Burton had transformed a simple children's story into an adult, all-empowering, thought provoking, costume mesmerizing, makeup enchanting, beautifully developed story. Every character was developed in such a way that you were aware without much explanations why they were who they were. I loved the costumes and the make up. Each costume and makeup was designed to match the emotional state as well as the personality of each character. Furthermore, you couldn't help but love the movie where all the main protagonists were women with a woman knight leading them. What more can you want in a movie!
