I can't help it. I love bridges. I'm mesmerized by their arresting image, and the Golden Gate takes the cake for its commanding quality. Today, some friends of mine and I took our children to the Discovery Museum in Sausalito, which is located on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The children truly enjoyed everything the museum had to offer, and we moms couldn't get enough of the cool weather and the magnificent view.
Charlton loved playing with everything: trains, puppets, fish. He is very curious about anything and now that he is mobile, he just takes off on his own and explores what he wants. This is scary for me, but exciting for Charlton. Toward the end, he got a bit tired and I thought he might be a bit sick or teething (those two molars are still finding it hard to break through), so I put him in the stroller and let him catch a nap. James enjoyed playing with the trains, too, but there was so much stuff for James to do that sometimes I couldn't keep up with him.
The museum is comprised of different buildings, and each building has a theme, like art, wave creation, ocean animals, San Francisco highlights, and many more.
The kids also liked some of the outside activities like playing with the xylophones, climbing up and down the pretend boats, and just being outside.
However, the best place outside for my kids was the "wrecked pirate ship" where James and Charlton played the most.
We all had a good time, and I can't wait to take all of my children there. When Jefferson saw all of the pictures from this field trip, he really felt this was a place he would love to visit. I thought so, too. I like places where children can have fun and learn at the same time as they did today in this museum. I'm very grateful I have this opportunity to be a mother and teach and learn along with my children.
