11 years and still going strong...

11 years ago today, my husband and I, kneeling down in one of the sealing rooms at the Atlanta Temple, sweetly kissed after promising to love and stay true to each other for time and eternity. Speaking for myself, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The main thing I knew deep in my heart was the fact that I loved Elijah with all my being and I was very sure he loved and cared for me as much or even more. It has been that love for each other that has kept us going despite hardships and trials. Being married has been the hardest and the most beautiful thing I've done in my life. It has been hard, because I have had to learn to grow up and live in reality, despite my desire to remain a fairy tale princess in an enchanted world. It has been beautiful, because my husband has made me feel like the most adored princess to have ever lived. Also, I've seen myself grow up so much emotionally and spiritually. Trials of any kind have the tendency to stretch you, and if endured properly make a pearl out of you.

When we started our voyage of married life, we were young and full of love for each other. Now, after 11 years on that journey, we are so much more mature, and our love has matured as well. It's not just a puppy love, anymore. The roots are deep and intertwined with each other. A look, a touch of the hand, a smile, a nod, carry so much more than just an emotional charge. They mean understanding, caring, comforting, support, passion, romance, sympathy, warmth, and above all pure love.

Elijah is a wonderful husband. I feel his love for me miles away. He is thoughtful and understanding. He appreciates me and is patient when I need to be taught something. Elijah has learned to trust my instinct and ask for my counsel. Throughout our marriage, we've realized that we are different individuals, very different in fact. However, those differences are what have made our marriage so fascinating. We have learned to work together as a team, and we've performed miracles together, our four children being the masterpiece.

Being married to Elijah has been an adventure. I have learned from him, grown alongside him, and enjoyed life with him. We've rejoiced as we welcomed our children into our arms; we've faced hardships and life crisis; we've fought because of misunderstandings; we've felt delighted seeing each other succeed; we've learned from each other; we've loved deeper and truer. Having had Elijah on my side has helped me keep the vision of eternal life clear and constant. I look forward to many more happy and enjoyable years with you, my dear. Happy Anniversary, Elijah! I love you for eternity!
