Rolling hills and all kinds of green

Saturday mornings, Elijah and I try to sleep in, having the older children take care of each other and Charlton, if he is awake. Today, Carolyn took care of Charlton, while all of us slept in. After a relaxed morning and a good breakfast, we decided that before Carolyn went back to Virginia, she had to see the breathtaking views from up the highest peak on Mount Diablo. Gillian and I didn't enjoy the drive. There were too many twists and turns, and our stomachs were hardly handling them. However, when we got to the summit, the cool air and the sunshine did us good. Furthermore, I absolutely loved the view. You could see as far as the ocean with its Golden Gate Bridge connecting the peninsula with the rest of the state. The day was so beautiful , surprisingly sunny after a very rainy weather the day before. On the way there, we saw many bikers riding their bikes all the way to the summit. It took us around 30 minutes by car; I can't imagine how long it might take them to reach the top, considering that the elevation at the peak of the mountain is approximately 4000 ft. My lungs were burning just imagining riding that far and high. The hills were very luscious and green as we started our journey, but the higher we drove the more different the landscape looked with the evergreens ending up on top. There were few wild flowers just starting to bloom and you could hear the birds chirping in the lower elevation. Up higher you could see eagles and hawks flying. Magnificent world our Heavenly Father has made!
