Later on, when they pretended to be rock stars, and then Star Trek officers, Gillian grabbed a pair of mom's boots and believed herself to be set for her part. She liked those boots so much, that she didn't take them off all day. Tonight, when she went to sleep, she put them beside her bed, and told her brothers to not touch them.
Jefferson didn't lag behind with games today. He used his building skills to put imagination into action. As the boys were playing with their army men sent to battle, they came up with the idea that their planes were shot down and these air men got out of their fighter jets just in time. They needed parachutes to get down, so Jefferson quickly improvised with paper and string. I thought it was pretty ingenious, simple, but ingenious nonetheless.
Today, my children exceeded the phase of being excited; they were ecstatic, borderline delirious. The reason: their favorite uncle, Abel, arrived today. (I'm sorry if I hurt any of your feelings, you uncles out there, but I just said "their favorite," not the coolest, or the funniest, or the kindest, which you are, just the favorite for different reasons.) Abel is going to be with us for a few weeks, and my children don't know what to do with themselves; they are so happy. I felt bad for Abel, because he didn't get a chance to rest. Since the minute he came till just now, my children have played with him games after games, watched movies, read books, and hugged and hugged Abel constantly. He didn't seem to mind, and I think he enjoyed himself with them, but I bet he is exhausted. He is really a very sweet kid, and we all love him and are glad he has come to visit.
I can't close this post without sharing with you this very funny picture. I thought it was hilarious. Tonight, being Wednesday, the children and Elijah, joined by Abel, watched their usual Star Trek episode. As I was typing on my computer while they were watching, I noticed it was kind of quiet; the children usually talk or ask questions. I turned around and what I saw made me laugh: Elijah and the children were each flossing their teeth while watching. Talk about using your time effectively! Way to go, Elijah, for teaching our children time management and oral hygiene!
